New Reflections Counseling, P.A. is a therapy practice in Cary, NC working with children, teens, adults, couples and whole families.
Most parents find us at the point where something has stopped being a phase. A teenager who used to talk has gone quiet. A child who is anxious about school in a way that no longer looks ordinary. A marriage that has been running on logistics for a year. Grief that the family has been carefully working around. You do not need a diagnosis or a referral to start, and you do not need to know what to call the problem.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Therapy for children and teens. We work with younger children through play-based and family-focused approaches, and with teenagers directly — including the ones who are certain they do not want to be there. Common reasons families come to us: anxiety, low mood, school refusal, friendship and social difficulty, big emotions, and adjusting after a move, a divorce or a loss.
- Family therapy. Sometimes the most useful work happens with everyone in the room. We help families who are stuck in the same argument, navigating a blended household, or trying to rebuild after a hard season.
- Couples and marriage counseling. Our clinicians include therapists trained in the Gottman Method. We see couples who are drifting, rebuilding trust, or wanting to get ahead of a pattern before it hardens.
- Individual therapy for adults. Anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-worth, burnout, anger, and life transitions.
- Trauma therapy, including EMDR. Our founder is EMDR trained. We work with trauma and PTSD in both adults and adolescents.
HOW WE WORK WITH PARENTS:
If your child or teen is the client, we will tell you at the start what we will share with you and what we will keep between us — and why that boundary is what makes the therapy work. Teenagers open up when they trust the room is theirs. We will not leave you guessing about whether progress is happening.
